    I'm new to this game but would like to burn DVDs from my camcorder. I have managed to make wmv files burt how do I get them onto the DVD?

    What kind of camcorder is it that you have? If it is a digital camcorder (be it DV or Digital8) then you should transfer the video to your computer using FIREWIRE DV AVI which simply copies the already digital video from your camcorder to your computer with no loss.

    I'm not sure why you used WMV but that is not a good codec choice.

    If you have an analog camcorder you should try to capture to AVI using either the HuffyUV codec or the PICVideo MJPEG codec (on the 20 or 19 quality setting with 20 being the highest).

    Another option if you have an analog camcorder is to get the Canopus ADVC-100 which is an external device that hooks up to your computer via the FIREWIRE port. You then input any analog video source into it (such as the A/V outputs of your camcorder) and this special lil box will convert your video to DV video (as if it was shot on a Digital Camcorder) and then transfer the DV to your computer as DV AVI.
