  1. Hi there,

I have captured via pinnacle studio 8.5 from my sony DCR-33 using firewire. The resulting captured avi file is 1:02:16 in length as reported by windows media player, ATI-MMC player, Adobe Premiere 6.0 and Tmpgenc. After processing the avi file throgh tmpgenc, the output (.m1v) file length is also reported to be 1:02:16 in length using the above applications. However, Maestro DVD reports the length as 1:02:12.

The probelm is that I am also extracting the date/time from the avi file and converting them to be imported by mastero to be used in conjuction with the m1v file (as subtitles). The mismatch in the clip length vs the length of the imported subtitles causes the date/time to be out of sync.

Can someone help explain the discrepencies and how to work around it!

    Thanks in advance.

Is it really a problem or do you think it might be? You have an error of 4 frames in a clip of over an hour duration. That equates to 0.16 of a second if you are using 25 fps PAL or 0.13 of a second if you are using 29.97 fps NTSC.

I suggest ignoring the error and seeing how it looks. Only try and do something about it if it causes a problem.

The difference is 4 seconds and I already tried it on my DVD player. The scenes change from one date to another and yet the time/date subtitle showed the previous date/time for a good 2-3 seconds. You're probably correct as to whether it is a problem or not. But, if I can fix it easily it would make my life easier. I don't have to expalin it everytime the scene change to my wife and especialy the mother-in-law.

    Any help is appreciated.
