I've been searching around the internet and found out about CVD. I understand that it's just a variation of SVCD with a 352 x 576 (pal) resolution. I was wondering if anyone could help me with the settings for TMPGEnc. I want to fit around 1 hour onto a CD. 3 episodes 20 mins each. But the catch is I would prefer not to use 2pass as I'm impatient and don't want to wait twice as long. Can it be done?

1 hour is marginal for SVCD at 480x480. At 352x576 you are at 88% of the pixels that 480x480. This makes a 1 hour disk about right for a good bitrate.
It's easy:
800 MB total disk space
60 minutes total (three 20 minute eps)
800/60 = 13.33 Mbps or 225 KB/sec or 1802 Kbps.
Allow 192 Kbps for the audio leaves you 1802-192 = 1610 Kbps
Set for CBR at 1500 and 192 Kbps for the audio and you will fit 60 minutes on a CDR with enough margin for error. With bitrates this low, VBR is much more useful, but CQ can be pretty dam good, just not as predictable in filesize. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
