  1. Hi All,

    I currently have a Cendyne (read Pioneer DVR-104) that I exclusively burn Ritek G03 @ 2X with. I also have 10 Optodisk DVD-RW 1X that I use.
I recently jumped on the 4X Dual bandwagon by snagging an Iomega (read Nec 1300A) drive from Amazon.
Now I have to start all over with the media again, so here are my questions:

    1) What is the current best firmware (hacked) for the Nec 1300A?
    2) Now that I have the option, should I go to DVD+R or DVD+RW??
    3) Since I am big fan of Ritek, I immediately looked at the Ritek G04's...Is there anything comparable??
    4) Now that I can at least double my DVD-RW speed(2X) or even more with DVD+RW(2.4X), can someone suggest a good Rewriteable for this drive??

I have only had 1 bad Ritek disk in 300, so you can guage the quality I am looking for.

In advance, thanks for all the help....

    Bama

I've been feeding my 1300a a steady diet of RITEK G04's (-R) and it's been a happy camper. Throw in some TDK 2x and it didn't notice. The cost on the G04's was a few pennies mor than the G03's in bulk, so personally I'd stick with RITEK.

As for RW's, I bought some RITEK RW's and been pretty hapy with them( I dont' use them that much, just to preview conversions on my player, usually in file mode).

leave well enough alone...if your 1300a is burning your choosen quality media successfully that is. Herrie's hacks are great, only if you need them (i will flash my original with his when bitsetting is implemented ).
personally i use +dvdr medias from memorex, tdk, and verbatim. the 1st 2 are Ricohs and verbatim is MCC (higher quality than Ricoh). i use copytodvd 2.3.7 for all dvdrs, but need to resort to nero 5.5.10.42 to burn dvdrws...flawless.

  6. stick with original for now...you won't regret it. bitsetting is coming soon for the 1300 via Herrie's hacked 1.08x

  7. exactly what noki said, if it aint broke dont fix it, find some dvdr's of good quality and price (GO3 riteks spring to mind) and see if they work, if they fail then try updating the firmware.
