AVI editor with Fade-in and out (tried Ulead VideoStudio)

Hello all,

I am looking for an AVI editor that will enable me to add fade-in from and fade-out to black. That is all I want to do. I don't need all the fancy transitions that most programs offer but if they come with the program too, I'll take them.

2 days ago, I installed the trial version of Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 and I would even consider buying it. The problem is I haven't been able to add real fade-in and out. What I was able to do was add transitions from and to black but they are not real fades, just animated transitions (for example, dissolve).

Am I doing anything wrong with Ulead VideoStudio 7.0? Is there a way to add REAL fades and not animated transitions? If so, please let me know! It seems great otherwise because it even has DVD authoring.

If there is no way to add real fades with Ulead VideoStudio 7.0, can you suggest an AVI editor that would do that? If possible, a program including DVD authoring too. But definitely the editing capability.

You need VS7's "Crossfade" (fade-in) and "Fade to black" (fade-out) transitions, that probably aren't available in the trial mode.

Although Ulead says that the add-ins won't install in trial mode, please try downloading the big (75.8 MB, separate in 9 or 10 files, I don't remember) "Components" plug-in, then you might get these transitions along with millions of other ones.

I tried last night and unfortunately, the components won't install. Probably because I only have a trial version like you said.
