Hey guys!
Anybody knows how I can remove chapters from a VOB file so that I can get a VOB file with no chapters??
Thanks,
Paul

Re author it.
BTW what's the complaint against chapters ?
Just ignore them -
First of all the VOB files dont actually contain chapters, play a VOB file on your PC and it will play the whole thing. The chapters are contained with the IFO, BUP files, you can open them up in IFOedit and edit the chapter points, it can be kinda tricky though. Ive added chapters before but never deleted them, i cant really see the point.

Chapters in general are OK, but when you have 133 of them in a 2 hour movie - then it's overkill...
...and properly what is giving me problems when trying to play the DVD.
[Copy&Paste]
PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN): 1] [01:50:21.10 / 30 fps] (Programs: 133) (Cells: 133) (uses VOB-IDs: 2)
I tried to play around with IfoEdit and look for guides as to how you remove chapters again, but all guides I found only deal with making chapters...
...so I someone could please give some hints as to how chapters are removed again with IfoEdit that would be great.

Well, if Foo or you could be a bit more specific as to how - maybe I could get it to work. I tried this guide here already >>> https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/120021.php
...but for some reason I keep getting 133 chapters, no matter how many times I delete all the IFO/BUP files and run the process again.

If your DVD is going to be movie only without menu, you could try this.
Store all the IFO/BUP files in a seperate folder.
Use IFOEdit to 'Create New IFO files'.
Choose 'Create 1 PGC only' and 'Create Chapter for 1st Cell only each PGC' then click OK.
Tip: If you move the progress window so the gas gage doesn't show, it will run much much faster.
If you use subtitles, you'll have to use IFOEdit 'Subtitle Color' to restore the correct colors from the original movie VTS.IFO.
Hope this helps,

Tried all possible settings with IfoEdit and still end up with 133 chapters.
I start out with these files, copied over from 4 different folders and renamed after being ripped with SmartRipper.
After using VobEdit and the Join Clips settings, I have these files...
...then comes the tricky part.
I have tried both IfoEdit095/096, with a combination of all 4 settings and even saving the IFO to different folder.
In the above example I actually ended up with 137 Cells/Chapters.
I then use Nero to burn the DVD and simply drag&drop all the new files into the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD.
That is the easy part and shortly after I have another DVD-R for testing.
(...and later trash)
When playing this DVD in any of my standalone players, it starts out OK and everything looks fine - but then it starts to jump around in the movie and will eventually crash after about 10-15min.
Now I don't have to use VobEdit/IfoEdit if there are better things out there (free), but I need a little hint in the right direction; cause looking through all those guides does not make it easier to choose a procedure.
So far I have been doing VCDs using SmartRipper > DVD2AVI > TMPGEnc > Nero, and have that nailed pretty good I think - but getting a Plextor PX708A for christmas, I wanna step it up a notch and find the best procedure for DVD>DVD and VOB>DVD

I'm also confused. Why after using Smartripper did you have to rename the VOB files and join them? Is the original movie 2 hours and have 133 chapters? That would be a chapter every 54 sec... something is not right.
Anyway, try DVD Shrink on the original DVD. And the best part is it's free and easy to learn.
BTW: What's the name of the movie.

No the reason why I'm trying to do it this way and thought the above guide was the most suitable for me, is because I wanna combine 4 DVDs into 1 (actually 12 into 3). We bought the Baby Einstein complete collection at Costco before christmas, but each DVD is only like 30min of stuff worth watching for my daughter - so I wanna put those 30min x 4 onto a single DVD and at the end of the day have it all on just 3 DVDs rather than 12.
...but maybe I'm going about it the wrong way and should find a different procedure. Could of course always use TMPGEnc and encode to DVD format instead of the VCD format that I have been doing till now. ...but that just seems like a waste of time and CPU power, when I can burn to DVD now and should therefor be able to skip a few steps compared to making VCDs ?!?

That's not really a big deal to do.
You can selectively rip the vob files that has those 30 minute sections you want in them or just rip the main movie or whatever to hdd with DVD Decrypter. You don't need any of the other files, just those vobs containing the parts of the movie you want to keep.
I would rip 1 DVD at a time to keep this process as easy as possible.
Rip the vobs to HDD folder, then De-Multiplex them with TMPGEnc, then Multiplex back using the same program into MPEG2 files. At this point it's a matter of a simple cut or merge process to create your wanted clips. (No encoding or loss of quality).
Save this finished file to a special HDD folder for safe keeping. Give it a special name so you know what it's about just by reading it. Like 'disk1 movie 1 30min.mpg' or something.
Go to the next rip job. etc.
When done ripping all your DVD and getting all your clips ready author with TMPGEnc DVD Author. If any of your projects should come out a tad too big to fit a standard 4G blank, then shrink it with DVD Shrink. Burn the finished VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD blank with your favorite burning software. Enjoy the show cause it's done.
It's every bit as simple as that...
Good luck. -
...back from work and at it again.
Tried the last suggestion, but run into other problems now.
On each DVD there are 2 VOB files, where the second one is always rather small but is still needed.
When doing the De-multiplex of all the VOB files, the big (first) VOB always comes out OK and shows all the proper info.
Where as the second is giving me problems and won't show the proper info.
...even when forcing the .m2v and .ac3 extensions onto the output file, when then trying to Multiplex them back together again TMPGEnc just won't accept those files.
So where do I proceed from here ?!?
