i have a pioneer 106 and use the ritek G03 1X to burn my dvds. i also use the nero 5.5.10 to burn these dvds.
and i am having a bit of a problem. it seems nero is putting a limit of 4.5gb on its indicator. should it not read like 4.7gb.
i have tried to move around the options but no luck there.
    so any suggestions out there.

No. A DVD disc is 4.38GB max (same as 4.7 "GIG")

    ok lordsmurd
then shouldnt the nero indicate a limit of 4.38 instead of a 4.5?

  4. If you look the limit on nero is just under the 4500 mark, in fact 4482MB

    That is megabytes not gigabytes.

    4482Mb / 1024 = 4.376Gb

    1024 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte
    1024 Kilobytes = 1 Megabyte
    1024 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte
    1024 Gigabytes = 1 Terabyte

    or 1 Gb = 1024*1024*1024 Bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes

4.38 Gb = 4,702,989,189 Bytes which is where the 4,700,000,000 disk size comes from.
