  1. The guides on this site are very thorough. However are these packages like wincopy etc that we see advertised better and more simpler. Or are they a rip off. The quote was press one button and watch it convert!!!
I have been burning vcd's for a while, and I get quite good results ,but always from an avi bin/cue etc.
However I am at home sick this week and I tried to convert a dvd copy of home alone (quite apt) using one of the guides and the results were quite poor. I used SmartRipper and dvd2vcd and tmpgenc. It took ages.would these advertised packages be better or is it just a rip off as it sounds.

    Thanks

much of the "easy, one click" software you see advertised is a bunch of freeware software like you'd find in the Tools section here, with a new GUI front end which masks what programs are doing the work.

most will not work any better than any freeware all-in-one (like Easydivx or the like), and are in no way worth the price you are charged.

before you buy, post a name and a link to the software, someone here can probably tell you what freeware they are re-branding...

a quick tipoff - do they offer a trial download period? if not, it's probably rebundled / rebranded freeware.

one other thing - some of the guides will point you to old tools or old methods - try a few different methods. if one guide's method seems really slow, it might have been blazingly fast back in 1999...
