  1. i was reading a guide on conversion of dvd to svcd using dvdx and tmpg....anyways i have a question

    1. (from the dvd-svcd conversion guide) why in the output settings of DVDx do i need to select "video server" in the premiere plugin box....this creates an .avs file for the movie output
and then with the .avs file i i would have to use Tmpg to convert it to mpg.

-i understand why i need to convert to mpg but my question is

if i dont choose video server in the premiere plugin box i can can choose to save the output straight to a mpeg1/mpeg2 file
i did it this way and the dvd conversion came out EXCELLENT!!! i didnt even need to use Tmpg(DVDx did everything)

so why does it say in the conversion guide that i need to select the video server option and create an .avs file (then in which i must convert to mpg)

If you use DVDx to TMPGEnc using the video server, you get even better quality!,

i think that the encoding time will be around the same for both methods...
