  1. Hi,

    I installed the demo version of Mainconcept DV codec also Huffyuv and i have the Pinnacle DV codec.

    I'm trying to see the capture quality difference between the codecs.

    How can i easily switch between the codecs when i capture. I use Premiere 6.5 and Scenalyzer Live.

    Thanx

    In Premiere select: Project->Project Settings->Capture

    In the dialog-box that pops up select "VFW Settings..." and in the new dialog-box select "Compression...". The new small dialog-box that pops up lets you select which codec you want to use for compressing your captured video (it also provides a "Configure" button to fine tune the settings of the selected codec).

    Unfortunately I think Premiere 6.5 does not save the compression codec into the Project Settings, so you have to re-select your prefered codec everytime you run Premiere (double check on that last one, just to make sure... I'm not 100% sure about it)

    Regards...

    PS. I think you should consider using a stand-alone capturing util for your captures (such as iuVCR or freeVCR or VirtualVCR).

  3. You are right, mate, Premiere 6.5 doesn't let you choose the compression codec in Project's settings.

    Unfortunately i have Premiere 6.5.

    Isn't there any easier way to choose the compression codecs?

    For example right now i have Mainconcept dv codec working as default and then i installed Huffyuv codec installed afterwards. How do i make the Huffyuv as default codec? Do i un-install Mainconcept?

    Hmm... I think it lets you choose the codec, but it doesn't save it in the project, as far as capturing is concerned. But it does save the selected codec in the project when it comes to exporting the movie.

    I really think you should consider using other programs for capturing your video. I know for sure that iuVCR saves every single setting, not only the selected codec, but everything else as well. The only glitch I get with iuVCR on my system (Win98SE, DirectX 9.0b and nVidia WDM drivers 2.13) is that every time I run it, it mutes Windows' sound and I have to re-raise the volume.

    For example right now i have Mainconcept dv codec working as default and then i installed Huffyuv codec installed afterwards. How do i make the Huffyuv as default codec? Do i un-install Mainconcept?
    I don't think you need to uninstall anything. It's just that Premiere doesn't save your selection. Try other programs for capturing video and then import it/them into Premiere 6.5 for further processing.

    Regards...
