  1. Hello

I have mpeg2 files created by panasonic'sw movie album se software that creates an *.mpg file--I would like to transcode the mpeg file to mp2 or m2v with an accompanying wave file.

If I understand correctly, transcoding does not involve re-encoding and will not result in a degraded conversion.

    Thank you

    John

Try the demux tools in TMPGEnc.

As indicated, it is called muxing (multiplexing) -combining audio and video streams or demuxing (de-multiplexing), splitting mpeg (program stream into separate audio and video streams). Look in Tools section for one that u may have (if u did not know it can do that) or grab the one u don't.
Transcoding is considered re-encoding of mpeg stream (video portion at least)

  4. Thank you for the help. I will definitely look into tmpgenc and I went through the tools section but I must not have really understood what I was looking for. I will go through the list again and check my own software.

    Thank you both.
