Hi there,
After searchin' and searchin' this forum and the net, I can't figure out how to be able to :
- Keep the movie encoded with CCE (5 pass using DVD2DVD-R)
- Keep the original menu
I do not need to keep extras/bonus.
Indeed I only found out how to keep film+menu using dvdshrink or dvd2one, but the result is not AS GOOD AS a 5 pass CCE encoding !
So, is there a way to mix original menu with my CCE encoded movie ???
thanks for your time and your replies
C U

You'd have keep your original ripped IFO and VOB files in tact in a separate folder and re-encode so that you allow ample space for the menu --> menu + re-encoded movie = ~4.36GB.
Then after you've got your newly authored VOB's --> just swap the old with the newly authored ones and then run IFOUpdate on the IFO files. I usually keep the menu and extras (strip unwanted langs and subs) along with the movie, using CCE to re-encode.. In your case, I'd guess you'd just pull out any VOB's associated with extras/bonus..
there's a few guides, but i think they're under "1:1" methods.. -
There are a couple of ways to do this, but in the end it's as the above poster decribed. What I would recommend is:
1. Make a menu and main movie only backup (IFOEdit and other software can do this, see guides). This will make like much easier as the extras and unwanted language/sub tracks have been removed.
2. Demux VOB to m2v and ac3. Also run chapterxtracter (and strip any subs as needed). Leave ac3 alone, and re-encode m2v w/ CCE. Make sure that the final size of the CCE file + ac3 + source VTS <= 4.3GB
3. Author encode m2v, original ac3 (using subs as needed) and chapterxtracter info to new VOB series.
4. Delete original *.vob files (not VTS_01_0.VOB as this contains the menu). Replace with authored VOB files.
5. Run IFOUpdate.
Here's an outline for the process that used DVD Maestro to re-author the DVD. The basic process is the same although some of your tools might be different:
