Hello

I have been recording tv shows on my panasonic hs 2 dvd recorder. I perform all of the edits on the hard drive then I transfer the show onto a DVD Ram disc. After I have transfered the shows to a ram disc, the ram disc is inserted into my Panasonic Lf d521 computer ram/dvd drive..

I am able to open the programs on Movie Album SE. Movie Album SE allows for the file to be exported as an MPEG2 file with the extension *.mpg.

My Adobe Premiere 6.0 does not accept *.mpg files. I can load the file into the preview window, after that the entire system freezes. If I rename the extension *.mp2, Adobe Premiere does not recognize the file.

I also have Vegas 4.0+DVD. Vegas accepts *.mpg files, however, DVD architect requires that the file be re-encoded. After the re-encode, the quality drops considerably.

Rather than purchasing yet another DVD authoring software, I am looking for a way to avoid re-converting the mpeg stream.

I found that Hueris software makes a plug-in for the Adobe Premiere called ConnexIT [price of software $79] which allows the editing of the Ram recorded VR files. If I understand the plug-in correctly, Adobe will edit in the VR format and then I can encode via the Pinnacle DC2000 for my mpeg file for DVD authoring. Anyone on this forum familiar with this software?

Without purchasing a plug-in or another DVD authoring software, can I effectively edit and author a DVD without multiple mpeg conversions? Or is a different DVD writer or plug-in needed?

Besides the cost of another software purchase, I tend to believe that the Pinnacle DC2000 capture board will offer better mpeg converions than software based--am I mistaken?

Thank you

John
