I have a Xvid avi movie that I am trying to convert to dvd. My problem is that I do not get any sound. I have separated the wav and video while encoding using TMPGEnc, and have extracted the wave sing VirtualDub. The wave file that i get from VirDub comes out with no sound when I try to compress it it says it can not. Is there a new Audio codec for xvid that I can use. Thanks

  2. hi

the xvid codec may be your troble if it's not installed, to find out if the codec is installed in your pc, download g-spot, and load the film and this will tell u if the codec is installed. I've had problems seperating the audio and video streams, using two diffrent tools. i found loading the both streams into tmpge and converting with less problems.

    hope this helps

Smells like AC3 sound. Do you have the AC3 filter installed?

XviDs are either MP3, OGG, or AC3. They could be something else but generally are one of the 3. VBR MP3 presents its own problems, but VDUB should warn you first.

VDUB can not extract a WAV file from AC3 sound track. You have to extract the AC3 track, then fix the header, then go from there. If it's a OGG soundtrack and you don't have the OGG-Vorbis package then you wont' get anything either.
