I really like this program. It solved all of my A/V synch issues when I capture from old SLP vhs tapes.

But I have a problem with the presets. The captured file size is too small. So I created my own 1/4 DVD preset. I tried to use all the settings that WIN DVR had used - except for file size - because I knew they worked. All the settings took when I applied them, except the audio.

I believe that this is the problem. In the preview settings screen it showed my choice - Dolby (AC3 ?) - but the apply button would not grey out like it did on the other settings. But since my choice was there, I assumed it was OK. Wrong.

I had underestimated the needed file size on my first capture with these settings, so WIN DVR still created two files. The first opened well with TMPGenc DVD Author, but the second file did not. It told me no audio. I tried to open the MPEG using TMPGenc Plus, but it told be invalid file format. The MPEG file plays fine in any DVD Player on my PC.

I ended up getting WIN DVR to transcode the 2nd file using it's presets ( Just to be sure), and then it opened perfectly in TMPGenc DVD author. But I don't like it's transcode program, because there is no graphic that shows your progress...yecch!

I suspect that when WIN DVR is using created settings there is a bug with the audio setting. Your audio choice is not locked. It will work fine when the MPEG is contained to one file, but if it overflows to a second file the audio will default to LPDM - which I assume is not a recognised format for either TMPGenc program.

I'm looking for one of two solutions.

1. Is there anyone who knows how to lock your audio choice in WIN DVR? I checked explore and could not find the file that held the presets, and I checked their webpage for an update that addressed this - no luck.

2. Is there a way to get TMPGenc to recognise LPDM? If it's a plugin, would you please type it slowly because I'll have no clue how to apply it after I download it. Detailed assistance would be appreciated by this newbie.
