  1. I downloaded the shareware Elecard CODEC to playback MPEG2 files in a program called Nuendo. It worked great, so I paid the $20 for the registered version. But now, with the registered Elecard I have "glitches" in the video playback. So, I uninstall the purchased version, and re-install the demo, and there are no glitches. But of course I have the "dancing logo" (meaning I have used the shareware for more than 21 days).

    The demo is:
Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder 2.00 Build 2510 (demo)
    and
    Elecard MPEG2 Demultiplexer Version 2.0 (build 90.30529)

The Real (licensed version) that I bought is:
    Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder 2.00 Build 2525
    and
    Elecard MPEG2 Demultiplexer Version 2.0 (build 84.30429)

Can I extract some files from the demo, and patch the licensed version?

I bought TMPGEnc Plus. Does it have a MPEG2 CODEC that I can use, and just blow off Elecard?

Can you recommend another MPEG2 CODEC ?

  5. Bugster,

In my original post I wrote the words, MPEG2 CODEC...

Well, the way this Forum works, it finds any words that look like they can be linked to somewhere on this site and the automatic link tool makes the link.

I guess I should have checked the disable automatic tool link box.

I didn't create the link. I looked into the freewaree MPEG2 CODEC... from the review I read, it didn't look very solid.

Yep, thats right. So what D_Knife was referring to when he said
That Baldrick's auto tool link found you a freeware codec???
was that if you review your post after submiting it you can see the link created by enetering that text.

Anyway, something else you can try to get a free mpeg-2 codec. Download the trial version of PowerDvd and install. This will provide an mpeg-2 codec that WMP can use. When the trial expires the codec should still be fully functional. Certainly this was the case with PowerDVD XP. Not 100% sure if this trick still works with the latest version but it has got to be worth a try!

  7. UPDATE !

The nice folks at Moonlight (Elecard) sent me version 2.2 of the Player. It works just fine - but the clarity of the video image is not as good as with the demo...
