A friend of mine downloaded a trialware of some game and got rid of it since he didnt like it. He told me to come over because he couldnt figure something out...here's the "problem":

Before downloading, he had about 7.5 GB of free space. After downloading an installation, he had about 6. After he got rid of it, he now has about 6.8. After getting rid of everything, shouldnt it go back upto 7.5?

  2. It probably still has stuff in the temp files and even though you "uninstall" there's still stuff in the registry

  3. I concur with 808 - your friend may have Temp file clutter.

Well he tried regclean and it didnt work...any other suggestions?

I tried it too(to get rid of some stuff) and got rid of this program I got with my old printer that I thought I uninstalled, but now when I turn on my computer, A messege keeps popping up that says something like "Warning. Canon MultiPass Suite cannot be found. Make sure you have it installed or some other local...". That's all I can remember. Wierd.

  9. Just open the windows temp file and delete the stuff or disk clean up under the drive properties

That's probably a registry key leftover after un-installing or your start up file looking for the application. Go to MSCONFIG (start - run - type msconfig - click start up tab) and turn off the application (if it's still there). Besides that 1.5 GIG is a big @$$ trialware "free" download. That would take for ever to download even on cable modem. What Game was it??

You had a Canon Multipass all in one machine installed at one time.
If you disconnected it, on boot it will say Canon Multipass "SERVER" cannot be found, click OK, and MultiPasss Desktop manager will not be insstalled at startup. No biggie.

Why did you disconnect it without uninstalling? You gotta start paying attention, lad.

I have a couple of them They're pretty damn good,

Though my first, at 600 bucks didn't seem so, b&w scan.

    Cheers,

    @ 808...I'm not a 100%, but I think it was hitman...

@ George...I did have the all in one, but for some reason after I upgraded to xp, it wasnt compatible w/ my system anymore. I tried downloaidng drivers and it still wouldnt work. I even called the cannon people and tried tech support but they were charging $75! So I just gave up and bought something else. Anyone want to buy a printer?

EDIT: Here's what my message really says...
No MulitPASS servers were found. Ensure that you ahve either a local MultiPASS server running or you have a drive mapped to the "Cannon_DDS" shared directory of a machine running a MultiPASS server.
Anyone know whats wrong or how to fix this?

    Devanshu,

If this is the XP machine we're talking about, which would not take the Canon software, you should be able to do an install, with the printer connected, then, since you say it won't work with XP, do an uninstall, then use RegClean to make sure all the bits and pieces are gone.

I don't use XP, so not sure about it.

Is there any Canon Multipass in the add/remove programs list?

I just checked my own Windows "Temp" file, and after add/removing a LOT of programs, it's only 66 megs.

Under View>Folder Options>View, is Show All Files selected? You may have a ton of hidden folders full of crap that is deletable.

    Cheers,

    George
