  2. i think i know what you're talking about. sometimes i want to save certain quotes from movies. like from "the way of the gun" the one by parker

"shut that cunts mouth or i'll come over there and f.uckstart her head"

anyhow, the way i do it is to figure out which vob file contains the audio i want, and rip that vob. open it with dvd2avi, scan a few seconds before it start, set the start, scan a little bit after it ends, set the end, save project. and you have a .d2v & .wav file of that certain segment.

i then open it in cool edit pro, amplify the audio (because vob audio is so damn quite), and edit out few seconds before and after the meat of what i wanted... y'know trim the fat..

then i take it in to audio catalyst and mp3 it.

    hope it helps.

  3. The easiest way to do this is with Smartripper which will rip the chapters and/or tracks you want (this assumes you know where in the movie it is).

If you just want to be able to play the DVD then hit 'record' wait 'stop', then edit the wav file as necessary, you can do this with "total recorder".
