When opening up the movie's VIDEO_TS folder in CloneDVD, the video quality percetage meter is around 80%. I only want the menu, the main movie, and 1 audio track. So by deselecting extras (don't want them) on the 1st configuration screen in CloneDVD, the video quality percentage meter moves up to around 85%.
The second configuration screen is where I can choose to deselect audio tracks I don't want. If I deselect any audio track, nothing happens to the quality percentage meter on the previous configuration screen.
Does CloneDVD automatically copy over ALL the audio track files, regardless of whether you chose to deselect any on them?
If so, hopefully the creators of CloneDVD will address this in a future version. I am trying to increase the video quality percentage meter by deselecting audio tracks I don't need.
The only way around this I found is to use DVDShrink to encode only the movie and the menu and then use CloneDVD to finalize and burn to a DVD-R.

CloneDVD will copy the audio file you select,if you de-select the audio stream will not be copied. The % bar never changes. Be aware that the latest version of CloneDVD does not correct the ifo file,it only copies the ifo from the VIDEO_TS directory, this means you must select stream #1 if you want the audio to autoplay. The last version that changed the ifo file to reflect only the streams you saved was 1.2.8.4

So you mean that even though you de-select the other audio options that the transcoder doesnt make up for it with video quality? If so that sux, but I still love the program and use it almost exclusively...
BTW I am wondering if Elby will in the future allow more of a user interface...ie more control what gets coding preference...for instance, when I keep the menu i'd like to reduce the quality more so that more quality goes toward video...I hope the fine folks at elby are listening!Boy do I love my avatar! -
This is an excellent question. I always wanted to know if the quality increased. They should just leave the % bar on the screen so you can tell. I'll be anxiously awaiting a definitive answer. thanks for the tip about the audio file and ifo change that clonedvd does or doesn't make depending on version.

Personal Observation:
Using CloneDVD 1.2.8.4, I have ran different elimination test. AS far as de-selecting (English YES, French NO and English Director Commentary NO), The DVD will have a valid English audio, but will also have a 2nd and 3rd track flgged but not data present. My outcome has been a dramatic increase in video bit rate with i have only the one valid audio track digital present.
THe big increase is noticed when the English and French Audio are Dolby Digital 5.1 448kps.
The compression bar is missleading. But I got by my past experience and good fortunes. Hope this data can be comfirmed by others and not just a fluke on my PC. -
if you remove any audio and the end result is still 4.37 GB then it will probably be increasing the quality uniformly across the titles automatically
if it does work like this then it's a shame it doesn't allow you to distribute this quality the way you want as I would presume most would want it to go to the movie -
i asked elby about the quality bar and the audio saying they should of put a quality bar after you decided which audio and subtitles you were going to use but they just said to get better quality just stick to the minimum audio and subtitle but still think they should put it in after you changed it to see if there is any improvments thats just my opinion
