If I break my movie up into smaller chunks and then created mpg2's of each and make an SVCD everything works OK until I play in my DVD player.
Instead of playing one track after another smoothly, the DVD sits on the last frame for a bit before going to the next track.
Is there a way of creating an SVCD so that it plays smoothly as if it is one big mpg2 file on the disk but I can still use the PREV and NEXT buttons on the DVD to quickly navigate to different sections.
I am manually putting a scandata file into the ext directory BTW

i have the same problem. even when i set the delay to 0 for each chapter i still get a pause. i read somewhere on here of a program that will let you select how many chapters you want on a single uncut mpeg. but the drawback was you couldn't select where each chapter was. it had auto's like 6 chapters every 12 minutes. the plus to it was your mpeg remains uncut....try the search for chapters or other key words. it might help....

TScv creates seemless chapters andi heard that vcdiimager easy along with vcdimager creates them also. YOu might want to try those out. all other programs i have used for chapters always have a slight pause.

You need to create entrypoints. This is all covered in the guides. Just click on the AUTHOR link.

I clicked on "author" as you suggested and went to the "how to" section to burn compliant SVCD with MPG2 for Nero which is what I am using and there is no mentiond of "entry points".
Where do I set them? Thanks very much -
There's a TSCV guide at:
http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/r/d/rdm186/
And there's an VCDImager Easy guide around somewhereAnyway go the left and click on Tools and d/load VCDImager and VCDImager Easy (a gui for VCDImager). Or d/load TSCV at http://www.ttool.org
VCDImager will get a bin/cue file that you can burn with the proper XML file structure for your entrypoints/chapters. -

This isn't a real drawback. You can set the chapters anywhere you want with VCDImager. This may be a limitation of one of the GUIs that I'm not aware of, but definitely is not a limitation of VCDImager of VCD2.0 specs.

Could you tell me specifically where and which program you are referring to please Adam??? -
Like I said just click on the AUTHOR link. Scroll down and it specifically says "How to make vcd or svcd with Menu's, Chapters and Entrypoints."
For svcds you can use TSCV (gui for vcdimager)or I-Author. For vcds you can use these two programs as well as Video Pack 4.0. Personally I prefer I-Author for both but out of all of them TSCV is the only free one so you might want to try that first. You can find it in the tools section. -
Have you tried writing the CD-R using Disc-at-Once to see if that makes a difference?

Even when burning DAO, there are a whole number of reasons why there will still be a pause, gap or at least a blip. I've explained why so many times that I don't really what to type it out again... There is a post that addresses this somewhere within this thread: http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=41334&forum=1

One simple question: does this TSCV method works for XVCD ?
