  1. Just bought this card and generally pleased with it (other than an IR sensor that has the wrong plug on it :/ Anyway, I'm capturing directly to mpeg 2, but it appears that the only audio format i can cature in using that profile is mpeg 1 layer 2 at 44100hz. Now, this is fine for playing back on the OC, but my standalone dvd plaeyr does not like it at all and makes the audio scratchy. I need to captire in 48000hz mode but its just not there as an option.

    Am I missing something?

Cheers in advance for any help - its been driving me mad all afternoon!

  2. I had a similiar issue and found out that after installing the drivers it tries to install some kinda multimedia software (forgot what it was called, not the app itself) and that if you allow that to install it elimantes the 48Khz capabilities. Uninstall and re install the drivers and app for that card...but only the drivers and the app itself not that audio mulitmedia thing.

Sorry for being not specific...It has been awhile since I installed it.

and just to make sure, is your audio card capable of 48khz ?

  3. Thanks for the response m8.

must admit, I never even thought of checking the video card, but I've just run it through sisandra and it says max sampling 44100

So it looks like I need to buy another soundcard. Would reencoding the mpg file through tmpgenc do the trick, or would the audio be too poor quality at 44100?

As you can probably tell, I'm a bit of a novice at this!

  4. I'm getting pretty confused by all this now. Just enabled my relatek ac97 onboard audio (6 channel) and that also says max sampling rate 41000. Does that sound right are am I looking at the wrong place here :/

Otherwise, can anyone recommend a soundcard that will capture withtthe winfast at 48000?

    Cheers

Have you tried capturing with VirtualDub to see if it allows you to capture at 48KHZ? Also 44KHZ is CD Quality, is 48KHZ really necessary for you? If all else fails and you want a sound card, I had the WinFast 2000 (AVI captures only) at one time and it allowed me 48KHZ and I used both the Hercules Fortissimo II and III soundcards with success. 6. Just tried it and yes, virtualdub will allow me to capture at 48000 so its not my soundcard. The reason I want to capture at that rate is that DVD spec says mpeg1 layer 2 should be 48000 for DVD, and when I use 44100 I get scratchy sound when playing on my pioneer 454. Also, the video loses sync in TMPGENC author whenever I use 44100, whereas its fine in 48000.

Can anyone here confirm that in their version of winfast software, there is an option to change the audio setting when using MPEG2 format? If its just not available in the program then I'll use something else to capture. I just have a load of VHS home movies that I want to capture directly to mpeg2 and author without having to reencode.

  7. Oh dear how silly do I feel? I was capturing in mpeg2 format. I never noticed there was a selectable profile for DVD PAL lol. Selected that option and then checked the capture and sure enough its 48000 and works a treat
