I only disliked Roxio before. Now I downright hate them. Now I have to add Napster to the list.

Loaded the new Napster Software. I don't want new burn software thank you but it insists. Knowing full well it will be incompatible with what I have, knowing it will trash my system, I went ahead (also knowing I keep a live clean backup on a D drive)

One thing I will say, they did not let me down. They had to strike deep in the heart of windows altering registry, dll's and every other thing it could get its hands on. A nice connection to home to so it can report on your habits.

I will tell you right now, I am VERY VERY put off by products that HOOK so deeply into windows and in fact, alter the way windows works.

The best though was after reboot, my system told me it was trying to ALTER hardware (I told it no) and I found that all my drives had magically changed drive letters. Not cool if you have shortcuts.

Then found I had DVD burner problems of not found.

Bottom line. If you don't like someone and want to hose their perfecty working system, just download any Roxio based proudct and let the fun begin.

Maybe I can collect a part of the reward for turning them in to Bill Gates ?

Wow ! I ranted and not one post...hmmm. Pretty good.

In all seriousness though, be carefull of the new music sites and their software. Itunes and music match were okay(though of course APPLE tried to change an association even though I told it NO)...

Why can't these software packages run standalone and just CALL windows ?

I downloaded the new Music Match and after I did their site was pinging my computer and my firewall detected and stopped it. I no longer use Music Match.

WMP 9 tracks every CD and DVD you play, all of it tattles back to M$....I wonder what they do with the info?

AdAware pro is worth every penny!!! And a decent software firewall will block those apps from communicationg.

  5. Thanks for the heads up...that's as bad as the idiots that use browser hijacks to plant their spam.

    Death to them both...
