  1. Hi, I am having problems encoding a XSVCD file into a standard for authoring to a DVD. I have tried this file in Tmpgenc, Main Concept, Cinema Craft and all fail to recognise the file for encoding.

Cinema Craft says it cannot find "dx50 codec", but I know I have DivX codecs installed on the system.

Power Producer will authour it, but I can't play it in my PS2 cause the audio is missing, and also on a DVD player I got. Any advice is appreciated as I have been trying for a day to sort this without luck.

    Thanks again.

  2. read about G-spot then chek your codecs again.

Sounds like you have a divx 5 encoded avi file not an XSVCD file. You can check it with avicodec as well, if it is an mpeg.

  4. Thanks for the advice, I couldn't make sense of gspot as it had a lot of N.A in the codecs, but the AVIcodec said that it is a mpeg 2 svdc/DVD format and it is supported and the audio is supported.

Does this make sense to anyone. Thanks for the advice and help.

Your video is an mpeg2. What resolution does avicodec report? (ie ???*???)

Your audio is reported mpeg1-layer2, yes? What is the sampling rate? (ie ??KHz.)

If it's DVD compliant you can author and burn as is. If it's not, you can still author and burn and many DVD players will still play it. For full compatibility you can convert the audio and video as required (with TMPGEnc), then author and burn.

Post all of the avicodec information for more advice.

BTW, to make sure you have an mpeg2 codec installed... Can you play the file on your PC?

  6. Hi, thanks for that, and sorry for the lack of info. Here is the following:

    File : 563 MB (0.0 B), duration: 0:00:00, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 88 %

    Video : 0.0 B, 15000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 480*480 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD)

    Audio : 0.0 B, 192 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0]

Tmpenc says the file can't be opened or un-supported and DVD labs stops during the process. and I can play the file in windows media 9 and power DVD.

    Thanks for that.

If TMPGEnc says unsuppoorted then you may need to raise the directshow priority, see my second link below.

  8. Thanks for the advice much appreciated, but it did not work. I found a program that can recognise the file, but if I split the audio and video and try and put it together the audio is about 4-5 secs out of sync with the video.

Can you recommend a way to fix the sync problem with the audio and video after I combine the 2. Thanks again.
