  1. I am looking for the fastest easiest way to go from a Video DVD-R (from a panasonic dmr) to mpeg2 system files (1 per title).

The source video is typically video depositions recorded by videographers and delivered as video DVDs on DVD-R discs. The applications (litigation support apps) need to have system stream files (with audio mux'd with video).

I haven't been able to find a tool that will do this. And ideas?[/b]

Can they be ripped like commercial DVDs and the resultant VOB files encoded to MPEG files?
    Hello.

  3. Thanks for the suggestion, but they already are MPEG files on the DVD - I'm looking to avoid encoding altogether. I just wan't a tool to quickly copy out the existing mpeg2 video, transcode the audio to mp2/3 and mux the a/v.

Goal: Each DVD Title --> One mpeg2 system file.

Well, if there are MPEG files present, get a program like Gold Wave, load the video files into it, and save them as an mp3 file. Use TMPGEnc to load the original video as input video, and the new mp3 file as input audio and let TMPGEnc mux it for you.
    Hello.

  5. TMPGEnc Plus did the trick for creating the MPEG-2 w/AC-3 audio system file.

After ripping the .VOBs from the DVD with EasyDVDShrink, I used TMPGEnc's "mpeg tools" demux to save out the a/v tracks, then used the muliplex to put them back together as a system mpeg2.

Since almost any commercial mpeg2 decoder ships with an AC-3 codec, I'm going to stick with AC-3 for the audio.

btw - although I'm a long time Goldwave user, besweet is very sweet for AC-3 to MP2 (or MP3) conversion.
