Hello. I searched in the capturing forum and couldn't find something about my specific problem.
I just purchased a WinTV Go card the other day. I am trying to capture with it and in all of the resulting captures I am getting a noticeable noise in the background that is high pitched almost, if not, a feedback noise. It only occurs during capture. I have tried different codecs, two programs-VirtualDub and Avi-i0, tried unplugging the amp to the speakers from the computer, and adjusting the volume on the computer mixer and the Hauppauge TV program. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  3. Check in the 'Recording Control' dialog that all the input options except for the line-in are muted (esp. the microphone) and if necessary reduce the volume of the input of the line-in.
The 'Recording Control' dialog can be found by opening the 'Volume Control' and clicking Options > Properties from the menu, select Adjust volume for 'Recording' and then click 'OK'.

  4. I'm having the same problem with a 2-year old WinTV PCI card. I'll be interested to hear of any solutions. The "feedback" level and pitch also seems to vary slightly, depending on the application, channel selected, and even what's on the capture screen. My next attempt is to connect a monitor to the line out of the WinTV, to see if it's actually coming out of the card (and into the sound card line in) during capture. I'm also thinking the levels of the line out and line in may just be very sensitive.

As you said, while watching TV or input video, the sound is just fine. Somehow the card is introducing noise into the system, which is being placed into the avi file.

I haven't given up on this card yet, but I'm close....
