  1. Hello everyone. I'm trying to copy a DVD and it has some stuff (how we made this movie) at the end of one of the VOB files. The main movie is split up into 5 VOB files. VTS_01_1 - VTS_01_5. VOB_01_0 is the menu items which I'm wanting to keep. Toward the end of 4 is where the documentary begins, which I don't really care about and continues into VOB 5. Is there anyway to cut the end off VOB4 and leave off 5 and correct the files to work? I watched the tracks and ran through the film, but when I keep the tracks I want in IC7 it's somehow linked and won't let me get rid of the documentary part. I'm presuming that's because it's in the same VOB file. I'm obviously new at this and needing some help. Anyone with insight would be appreciated. Thanks all.

it sounds as if the Titles are linked and my guess it will be a small 0.xx entry at the end of each PGC that will be doing it. You may be able to strip it using Ifoedit if the parts you want have different VOB ID's

    my guide HERE

the thing is removing the VOB ID's will remove all references from the DVD, therefore if the DVD tries to play the removed ID's it will hang. The best thing to do is remap the ID's to a blank if it's possible but it may just be a bit too much if you have never used Ifoedit

I have another method using Ifoedit HERE which you can use with IC and basically trick IC into only looking at the parts of the DVD you want it to see. Using this method you need a very forgiving player as it is a 'dirty' IFO hack but it's very effective , but again not for beginners

there's plenty of methods and the method you choose will depend on the time and effort you can put towards it . Menuedit & DVDStripper can remove selective DVD content from linked titles but they are not free

if you open the VTS_01_0.IFO in Ifoedit and highlight the path in the top window and then click the Copy to Clipboard button and paste it in here I can help you more as I can tell you which ID's to remove using my top method. This is what it will look like only longer

    VTS overview:

    Menu attributes:
    Video: MPEG-2 720x576 (PAL) (PAL 625/50) (4:3) (not specified perm.display)
    Audio 1: Not Specified (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC
    SubPicture 1: Not Specified (2-bit rle )

    Title Set (Movie) attributes:

  3. Thanks for the reply MackemX. Your instructions may not be for beginners, but I guess I'll have to jump in with both feet at some time. Thanks again for the info. I'll give it a shot tonight and let ya know how it went.

  4. Well, I think I got it working. I tested the VOB in PowerDVD and it cut where I wanted it. Yay! Only problem is now when I try to load it into IC7, I get an error that says "List index out of bounds (-1)". I'm probably sure it's screaming about the new VIDEO_TS.IFO file. Any idea how to remedy this? Thanks for the help. ^_^

  5. Download the free DVD Shrink 3... when you go to"re-author" mode you get an option "start/end" which use sliders to set the cut off point.Easy.

there's my fix for the error HERE

if you have stripped VOB ID's then change the chapter values in the VIDEO_TS

  7. Thanks john-306. It's always best to be able to do things more than one way.

MackemX. Looks like you have everything covered there. I'll try it tonight when I get home and see how it turns out for me. Thanks to both of you for the information.

  8. Hmm.. well, I followed your instructions to the best of my abilities. Now I'm getting a "List index out of bounds (3)" error in IC7. Was I supposed to save the .BUP also? It asked me, but that wasn't covered in your documentation. I tried it both ways but still got the same error. There are several titles that were cut when I changed my .VOB. I tried just changing the 1st one and then all of the titles that were effected. Any insight on what I may be overlooking? Thanks.

john-306's suggestion is on the mark...no need for dynamite if a hammer will suffice. only problem is that since your are re-authoring your menus will not be functional for navigation. they are played back as movie titles instead. hey, but it's free! good luck

  10. That's okay. I don't mind doing it the hard way at first. It will give me more insight on how DVDs tick. Once I figure out what I'm doing, then I'll do it the easy way. ^_^ Thanks for the reply. Still working on fixing the second error, it may be because I stripped my VOB wrong. I'll try again tonight. Thanks everyone for the help.

@witchboard, it's sounds like your IFO's are all messed up and I can't really help unless I know exactly what you are doing and what you have done

if you can post the info as above then I can offer suggestions

  12. No need. I figured it out. My suspicions were correct. I incorrectly stripped my VOB. After the second time around everything is working well. Thanks everybody for all the insightful information!
