I have read that most people set the DC component precision setting at 10 bits in the video tab when using TMPGEnc. I have version 2.0 and my setting is at 8 bits and is grayed out so I cannot change it. Why is this and how can I change it? Is the 10 bit setting really a big difference over 8 bit in video quality? Thanks

Hi,
do following:
LOAD->EXTRAS\UNLOCK
now you can change everything you want

BTW there is basically NO difference whatsoever between 8 and 10 bits. See for yourself

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can change DC precision on mpeg1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I opened the unlock option as you said and changed to 10 bits, but then when I went to load SVCD format, it changed on me. Is there anyway to maintain the unlock settings while using the SVCD template?
