  1. Hi

I'm really new to DVD Burning, but I think i've figured out what I want to do, so I have an Mpeg2 file (video only) and an AC3 audio file, but obviously I need to combine them and author them onto a DVD, what is the best/cheapest program that can do this?

cheapest is ifoedit (free) , best is sonic scenarist ($21,000)

best and cheapest ratio -- prob. TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVDLab (great value)

  3. Right I followed your advice and tried DVD-Lab, unfortunately when I went to compile the DVD, it was Muxing for 3 hours before I gave up, surely that must be too long?

I already had TMPEnc Author, and that says:

Cannot Use Mpeg-1 Audio Layer 3 for standard DVD.

Cannot use MPEG-1 audio layer 3 audio format for standard DVD.

For standard dvd you can only use:

Dolby Digital (.AC3) (which is what I AM using), MPEG 1 Audio Layer 2 or Linear PCM.

Now, easy enough to solve, just use one of the other audio streams, but my dvd player seems to be rebelling against playing either of those for some reason.

    Anybody got any idea.

P.S. Also used IFO Edit, which compiled the DVD with no problem, but there was no sound on the dvd at all. Unlike previous ones where the pc would play it fine, but the dvd wouldn't.
