  3. Yes, the ADS looks great. According to http://www.adstech.com/media/mediafiles/PR-InstantDVD.htm , the price is only estimated street of $229 with software . However, the estimated date of release is "scheduled to ship September". We are running a bit late not to even have any adds. Anyone even SEE one of these things? I like the idea of something more modular than a card, and with more versitility than a VCD record deck.

  4. I wrote to ADS about a Mac version of the driver (as I understood it, Instant DVD was Windows-only), at the beginning of September and I got this reply:

    Paul,
** At this point we do not plan to have the USB Instant DVD work with Macs. It is more than a drive issue. Currently on the market today, there is no consumer level editing software on the Mac that can edit MPEG 2*video on the fly. Meaning that you cannot import Video in MPEG 2 format in to any editing software. It has to be an AVI file i.e DV Camcorder that works with Imovie. IDVD has to render the AVI file to MPEG 2, but can not read a MPEG 2 Video file on the fly. Once a software company has a MPEG 2 video editor for the Mac will be able to write a driver.
