Hello all,
I have a philips 228k wich i want to upgrade to the latest version.
When i start the flashtool i can select my drive, but when i want to flash the tool does not recognize my drive.
Also the patch to make the drive regionfree does not recognize my drive. I get here the same problem.
Anybody an idea?
I run Winxp Pro by the way.
Thanks for any help,
Ron

Use the latest RFlash program instead of 6.0.1.0

Advice from
http://www.ricoh.co.jp/dvd/asia/support/download/how_win.html
1.Be sure to check the proper file has been downloaded for your model.
2.Quit all of other applications, especially memory-resident programs.
3. Be sure to remove any media from the tray before upgrading
4. Check to see the drive is properly recognized from the OS. The firmware upgrading will NOT solve the problem that the drive is not detected on the System.
5. It is better to install the writing software (pre-mastering software) on the PC.
6. For ATAPI drive: If your PC has VIA chipset, check to see the property of the drive from Device Manager or so. The DMA option enabled, change it disabled before uploading. You can set it back enabled after uploading success.
7. For ATAPI drives: Try to remove another IDE peripherals. We usually upload the firmware connecting the drive alone with Secondary Master.
8. Try with 'Backup Current F/W' option enabled on Rflash program just in case, so that you can try it back again with the firmware backuped.
9. A stand alone PC unplugged with any network or a simple environment without any other peripherals would be better for avoiding unexpected problem. You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off. -
