Is there a way to rip a DVD-9 straight to a 700MB DIVX file? Instead of ripping, encoded, etc?

    Thanks.

  3. Personally I'd rip w/ DVDDecrypter and use XMPEG. Takes 10 minutes to rip a DVD w/ decrypter and you don't risk screwing up your drive like w/ DVDx. XMPEG has most options IMHO.

Doesn't DVDx allow you to encode from files on your hard drive, instead of directly from the disc?

  5. Yes it does. But you have to rip them first (I dunno if DVDx can do it, but it requires an ASPI layer that often acts up. Therefore it's preferable to use Decrypter to rip the vob files (no aspi needed) and some other app to encode (DVDx or XMPEG)0. My only qualm w/ xmpeg is that when trying to crop out black areas and resize (for widescreen) the AR always gets messed up. Also you can't encode source range ... the best you can do is custom chapter (for testing purposes).
