Wouldnt u know it. I buy something and is discontinue and the new replacement is better featured and cheaper. Now I wish I didnt get the 900 and got the R300 instead...

I mean the 900 was only available for less then a year and in Canada it was only available for 3 months b4 the stores sold out. :P

  2. I have the 900 and have no regrets. It prints beautiful disks and photos. It is very easy to use and most of all Ink is a lot cheaper. Compatible refills are less than $10 on-line. I have seen the R300 in stores and it looks cool but ink looks to be more expensive. I paid around $170 for the 900 so the price seems to be about the same. From the posts I have seen the output looks about the same.

I just bought the R300 printer and the CDs look awesome. However, the CDs smudge when I test them (wet my finger and touch the CD- which causes the ink to rub right off.) Are there any settings I can change so it doesn't take as much ink?

Dont lick your finger and rub the disc!
Actually, there are some threads regarding spraying your disc with sealant, dont dont go huffing the spray fumes when ur done, it gives me a headache.

Yeah I know that...but I am just thinking for the future...Murphy's law would be the one dvds that you can never get wet at all, are the ones that will be the most likely too. Besides, if there is no way to prevent smudges, i might bring it back and just buy labels....but I am not sure if I will though

Is there any place I can buy samples of different printable DVD+R media? Or can anyone recommend any other technique to get it to dry better? Is Epson gonna release any Durabrite inks for the R300? maybe that would help...

There is a cheaper alternative available now in the UK, the R200. It's MSRP is only $99. I emailed about when it will be available in the US and they said March. I think I am gonna snag one when they come out here.
Does anyone have this printer now (in the UK I mean) and is it any good?

  11. Hi,

On cheap cartridges (this side of the pond) there's a company that (I think) is in Sweden, called inkclub. Here is the link:
    http://www.inkclub.com/index.asp?CtryNo=826&LangNo=1

They do cartridges for the Epson R300 that are less than half the price of the regular Epson cartridges. (I have a Canon i850 and have ordered all my cartridges from them over the past 6 months.) Dirt cheap and excellent quality.

  15. Check out the super little utility for Epson printers from here http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml Latest update includes the R300.

According to the printer monitor my black cartridge ran out 4 weeks ago, but a quick reset with this and it's still going strong.
