  1. I have a shrinking problem with DVDShrink. I want to make a backup copy of 'Finding Nemo' dvd and shrink it to one disc by removing unwanted manuals and extra features. The staus bar is all green and said it's 4.2G on top. So I'm ready for the backup. Then it went and encode the DVD for 1hr and a half and was successful without errors. Next I try to burn it to my DVDRW using NERO 6. I drag all the files to Video and it was over 5Gig. I remember DVDshrink said it's only 4.2gig why did it turned out to be 5G? Does anyone experience this problem? I using the DVDShrink 2.3.
    Thanks

I dunno but I just did Nemo with main movie only and it
was 3 G without any compression.

Most Disney flicks are 90 minutes/ 3GB. Easiest thing in the world to backup. I personally strip menus/extras since my youngest can put the disk in, but has problems with commercials and the 10 minutes of leadin crap.

  4. If I go and click on the 'Re-author' and choose just the main title. It works because it came up to 3G in the status bar. The output is less than 4.7G.
But if stay in 'Full-Disk' mode and do a 15% compression and remove unwanted audio and have still pictures in some of my extras and the total is 4.2G and no red mark in the status bar just green and states 4.2G then the output came out to 5G. Is this a dvdShrink issue where it actually comes out more than it states after the encoding process is finished? Maybe I should just make sure it's always around 3.5G on the satus before backup.
Has anyone compare the size of what dvdshrink said in its software and the output files?

    Greetings,

Instead of trying to burn with Nero, try that:
    - Use IMGTools to create an Iso file: What is the size of the iso file? Is it about the same size than the total files size in your folder?
    - Then use DVD Decrypter to burn the iso file on the DVD.
Let us know what is the result.

    Thank you

  8. I had the same problem shrinking one movie, I don't remember it's title. After compresion it didn't fit on DVD-R, so I used manual ratio slider to get smaller size.

    Greetings,

I forgot to ask if you used the analysis option. You need to use it because it will make a better quality and it will assess the size precisely.

    Thank you

If you don't use deep analysis, and you are under 80% compression needed, you may miss your target size. Especially with fast action/Animated films. Some animation is pretty simple, then it switches to the ultra high res/motion CGI scenes and the bitrate goes to hell.

The short analysis takes maybe 30 seconds for the main movie, while the deep analysis takes me 30 minutes, that's quite a difference, don't ya think?

  11. I had the EXACT thing happen to me when I tried to backup Finding Nemo.

It seems that versions of DVDShrink prior to 3.0Beta fail to recognize ALL of the files on the disk. If you load the VIDEO_TS.IFO file into DVDShrink 2.3 and DVDShrink 3.0Beta you will notice that 3.0Beta has an "extra" catagory title "Unreferenced Material" which is actually part of the movie. This is what DVDShrink 2.3 is missing and that is why your results are >5Gb when you use versions prior 3.0Beta

What's interesting is that this only happens on the Fullscreen Disk. The WideScreen disk does not have it..??...leave it to Disney

    Bottom line --->>> USE DVDShrink 3.0 Beta5

  12. BINGO...
thanks Tagger, you hit the jackpot. I thought it was me all this time. what you said is exactly right. It only does that in Full screen not Wide screen. I think this is a bug on DVDShrink. The developer should take note on it and prevent this on future releases. I will try 3.0 Beta to see if this problem if solved for Nemo Full screen.

I encountered this problem too with DVDShrink 2.3, but no problem with 3.0beta5. Try the beta version
