I've been using DVDShrink which is almost perfect software. Only major problem is the video quality when encoding has to be performed.

I haven't tried yet any other software (for example DVDFab, CloneDVD, DVD2one) which also seem to has the possibility to use original menus and structure. I would like to know if one of these software has better quality with video encoding? Or is there still some software missing from my list that has good quality and possibility to use original menus?

Is there this kind of software which is able to use external encoder such as TMPGEnc / CCE?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. It's not free, but I use INTERVIDEO DVDCOPY v1.2.

It can backup a DVD-9 DVD to a DVD-5 DVD-/+R without loss of quality. I have backed up numerous DVD's with this program and haven't seen any loss of quality. Oh yea, when I backup, I backup the WHOLE DVD, not just the movie. This program can also convert DVD to VCD, SVCD, DivX, and M-DVD (multiple DVD's).

    NOTE:
This program won't allow you to back up CSS-encrypted (commerical) DVD's, but programs like "AnyDVD" and "DVD Region-Free" will allow you to bypass the CSS-encrpytion.

OTHER NOTABLE PROGRAMS TO COPY EVERYTHING ON A DVD:
    DVD2ONE**
    CloneDVD**

**Won't copy CSS-encrpted DVD's, unless you use 1 of the 2 programs mentioned above.
    Hope this helps

I have been using DVDShrink with no loss of quality. Are you using it right (defaults blow)?

have you used still pictures on the stuff you don't want then used deep analysis?

that should normally give acceptable (for most) quality

quality is in the eye of the beholder (and their setup)

    Thanks guys,

Anyway, I know how to use DVDShrink (as much as there is to know ) and that's not the problem. (Have used stills, deep analysis, different quality rates for different chapters (stills for end credits) etc.)

I'm only interested in knowing if there's some other software which has same options w better video encoding quality (I still think that if you go under 70% -> the quality decreases). You gave me good suggestions but there's no comments about the quality compared to DVDShrink and I don't want to test these all Specially interested in the quality of DVD2one and CloneDVD ...

jarvis1781: what did you mean by that 'The Big 3'

    And thanks again ...

The only way to get noticeably better quality than DVD Shrink is to stop transcoding. All transcoders suffer a similar quality loss when shrinking that much.

You can re-encode, though. Check out the "big 3". Be aware, however, that in order to use the "big 3" you need Scenarist, a package which costs $25,000. Obviously some people "acquire" it in other ways.
