  1. I have a Sony DRX-510UL external burner hooked up with firewire. I rip the DVD with DVD Decrypter. If it is 1 layer DVD i just read ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter. If it is 2 layer DVD I read in File mode with DVD Decrypter, then use Instant Copy 8 and turn into pdi file and then burn with Instant Copy 8.

My question is I burned fine with Memorex DVD+RW(4x) disks and played on my home dvd player(they played perfect). When I try to burn using Princo(1x) DVD-R disks I get error just about everytime. I've tried probably about 15 times and only 2 worked. Should I use DVD+R or should I be using DVD-R disks? I'm new at this is why I'm asking. I've tried Clone DVD and Nero 6.0 and they fail with the princo disks also. I just need to know what are the most reliable disks for my burner if anyone knows?

    Princo... sucks.

    Let me repeat.

    Princo... sucks.

I think we should sticky a thread that has a big topic saying "PRINCO SUCKS".

  9. You may have gotten a bad batch....have you checked the dvds through software to see what they actually are?
I say this as princo definately get blasted on this forum (and Im not saying its unjust criticism). But Im on my 3rd spindle on 100 Princos now, so out of the 250 Ive burned, I would have had less than 5 duds. Im using a Sony 500 that Ive turned into an external burner with usb2, and have no problems switching it between an Athlon 2500 and an intel 2.4.

Have burned with TDKs with no dramas.....but SKC discs I definately have problems with.

PS.....thank god I can finally burn at x4.....the firmware took an eternity to be released.

Bottom line....ID check your media...if you still have problems, but an assortment of media, and check them all for compatability with your player. Check that link above as well, as this topic is brought up daily.

I've been using Princo brand CD'-r's for years without a problem, at present I'm using Princo DVD-R's also without a problem, because you and a few other individuals are unable to get results with this Brand of disc, generally means something is wrong with your computer setup or hardware.

I suggest you "protest too much".

I sure hope you have gone back and verified or watched every single one. I burnt about 150 while only checking a few and now ive got tons that are unreadable. About half, in fact.

    It stands.... Princo sucks ballz

I hear a LOT of people say that they THOUGHT Princo was good, but they went back to check their movies a month later and none of them played.

Let's face it people - there are good manufacturers of DVD's and BAD manufacturers of DVD's.

NOBODY is saying "my riteks all started sucking".

The way I figure it, if 50% of people have problems with Princos and 50% don't, that's a 50% product failure rate.

Since 100% of people have no problems with Riteks, that's a 0% failure rate.

I prefer the 0% failure rate.

  13. Yeah, spend the little extra and go with Riteks. I started out with Princo's and of my first 25 I had 3 duds. Not too bad, but after switching to Riteks I've burned over 200 without a single dud. I will never go back. Princo's aren't necessarily terrible, but Riteks are just better.
