  1. There is plenty of information about editing DVD-RAM from the point of view of getting video off RAM and onto the PC, but what about the other way around.

I have an LG 4040B in the PC and a Set Top Panasonic DMR-E??. I want to take an Mpeg, and burn it onto the RAM disk in the appropriate format but cannot find software that provides this ability (most state explicitly that they do not support buring to RAM, nor can I find any 'manual' method to do this.

Anyone has sucess in this area? I have my reasons for wanting this so please - no suggestions of 'switching to +/-RW' etc.

    Thanks

    Thanks

  3. Panasonic distributes a program that will allow you to write files to a DVD-RAM and then play that disc in your DMR-E50. Can't remember the title offhand; it's available for purchase, but only from Panasonic.

  4. Ulead MediaStudio Pro described on the Web page at the following link...

    http://www.ulead.com/msp/runme.htm

...features a DVD-VR export wizard that allows you to write MPEG files back to a DVD-RAM disc in a DVD-RAM drive.

There same DVD-VR WIZARD functionality is also available in Ulead's consumer-level VideoStudio 7 program.

    Hope this helps,

  5. I have contacetd Panasoinc (Australia) and they suggested two things:

    1. That I could not buy the Software Bundle on its own.

    2. That I should have purchased a Panasonic Drive in the first place.

    Great Help.

I have tried the DVD-VR option (but not in the Ulead products) and the Panasonic does not recognise the disc, it just displays the error "UNFORMAT". The disc is then un-useable in the Panasonic and cant even be formatted! I must reformat the disc (UDF 2.0) in the LG drive and I am back to square one.

  6. isn't the file structure on a disc recorded in your dvd recorder like the file structure on a normal dvd? i've got a dvd recorder that records to +r discs and when i put it into my pc it has a similar structure, anyway if you just burnt a video_ts folder onto the ram disc wouldn't that play in the recorder?

  8. If I record DVD-RAM on the Panasonic, the disc can be read on the PC no problem. When I record DVD-RAM on the PC, the Panasonic does recognise the disc as stated above. This was using the DVD-VR option.

I checked the websites of most DVD Authoring software and in their drive compatibility lists, most state that they "don't support writing to DVD-RAMs" or there is no mention of DVD-RAM support.

I was just interested in hearing from anybody else who does the exact same thing as described to save me trying 100 different methods to find out that it is not possible.

  9. I'm pretty sure I've read that there needs to be some special tweaks done in order to get a DVD-RAM disc to play in set-top players that can read them. I'm not quite certain where I found that, so I'll keep looking.

In the meantime, check out this link and let me know if you've been here before:

I'm also thinking about this ahead of time. Unlike so many people here with DVD set-top burners, I only have a compatible (Panasonic) player, but I do have a DVD-RAM burner on the way. I'm getting a USB 2.0 capture device and I already have editing software. I'd love to find a way to burn movies to DVD-RAMs!
