  1. I am considering to buy Matrox RT.X10 with Premiere Pro software bundled. For MPEG2 convertion, I plan to use TMPGEnc.

    However, is it true that using Matrox RT.X100 hardware realtime MPEG2 capture/encoding much better than TMPGEnc in quality?

    Any other choice to RT.X100?

    A bit of digging through through the specs of the x.100 reveals it uses the Ligos software encoder for mpeg encoding

    I recall reading from a website that compared Matrox to Canopus (pro quality we talking). In conclusion it gave the edge to Matrox for better overall viewing experience of encoded material. It said among other that although detail is silighty better (under magnification) on Canopus, Matrox picture felt "right". Try to search Google it must be still there...

    dvstorm2 is another you may want to look at ... in the same range i believe ..
