  1. Must have been some bullshiite you read on a new Rap Star's web page somewhere...where he or she was asked where they get such inspiration for their "unique and talented" style of TALKING.
Talking is an art too. Ever heard of storytelling?
Think of rap as, spur of the moment storytelling with rhyme and rhythm.

Maybe segregation and the fact that it was illegal for some people to read played a role in how speech patterns developed over the years
Segragation is illegal now and has been for quite a long time, so how do you explain a 16 year old from speaking that way? Blew that theory out of the water.

I don't say all my words correctly because I was taught to speak by people who didn't say them the correctly
Are you saying that your teachers didnt speak correctly? NOT
It is simple really, white, black whatever. I do not want to hear it. I have been there, as have many before me and after me. It is a choice to learn or not learn. School is free, they should take advantage of it and stop with the excuses when they can't get that nice job and cry foul.

Call it lazy, call it trying to be "kewl", call it whatever you want. If they want to speak that way, that is fine with me, I'm sure I will be able to decipher their phrase "do ya want fries with that" or "would you like to biggie size that".

Again, it is a choice to be ignorant, no matter what your upbringing or level of income. I am proof of it. I do not claim to be an English major, but I do claim that learning is a never ending achievement as we can always learn more than what we know.

The difference between smart and dumb is that the smart person knows that he does not know everythring.

As someone mentioned in this thread a while back, the Scottish accent is very noticable. Not far from where I live is a small town that used to have a large steel works. Scots, predominately from Glasgow (which has a very broad and distinctive accent) moved to the area to work at the steelworks. We now have third generation children that still talk with a broad Glaswegian accent. They speak that way because that is all they ever hear.

On the topic of music, or any form of art, someone once told me that only an ignorant person describes anything as crap. It may not be to the individuals taste, but it isn't crap. You personally may not like classical music, abstract art or a pile of bricks masquerading as a sculpture, but you can't describe it as crap (well, maybe the pile of bricks was stretching it a bit!).

But as for the DVD+R versus DVD-R argument, anyone using + must be an idiot.....
