  1. I hope this is an okay forum to post in.
Is there a way I can download ASX/ASF files to my harddrive?

Most streaming media is a pain (unless they have WM9 and then it is quite nice) otherwise buffering, etc, etc is pain, plus if you want to show someone else you have to redownload it,etc, etc.

So, is there a tool which can archive streaming media files to Hard drive?
Ideally, this tool would be free

Also, if there is such as thing that can capture Real Audio files and convert them to WM that would be very helpful too.

    Thanks!

  2. A program that has been metioned here before, if memory serves me right, is called camstudio. another one to use is a program called world tv here's the link http://www.netfor2.com/. you can enter the url of the stream and may be able to record it.

  3. The only problem with CamStudio is that if the streaming files stals then it will be caught on screen. I would much rather use something like WMRecorder (which I am trying now).

    Anyone else have any ideas?

  4. StreamBox VCR is very good (for certain protocols/formats). I think it's in the tools section here.

It's particularly good for Real streams. I then use TINRA (This Is Not Real Anymore) to convert to a different format.

    cheers,
