  1. I currently have an nec 1300a dvd-rw. I tried burning a backup of a dvd onto a memorex and tdk 4x dvd-r but they won't play on my ps2. Anyone know of a dvd-r or +r brand that will burn on a nec 1300a so that I can watch my dvd backups without using a modchip on my ps2? I heard that riteks are real good but I'm not sure where/which ones to buy in the u.s. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Why dont you start by telling us your method of backing up your dvd's first. What programs were you using?

  4. just so you know, the ps2 doesn't need a modchip to play dvd-r & dvd+r. i had a v4 before i modded it, and just purchase the v9 ps2 for progressive scanning, and it plays my dvd-r & dvd+r out of the box. i'm sure it's the way you're burning the movies. try dvdshrink v2.3 & nero burning rom.

  5. I tried nero 6 and for some reason the dvd option is blanked out. I currently have my drives setup as:
primary: cdrom=master, hd=slave, secondary: cd-rw=master, dvd=rw slave. Should I have this setup differently to burn from hd to dvd=rw? Or should I try an older version of nero. I think i have 5.5.9.9 but does that support dvd burning? thanks for your help on the matter.

  7. Killerb247,

After I installed my NEC1300a, Nero had the DVD options greyed out.

The only way I could get the options to show was a reinstall, over the top of the existing installation and then all worked fine.

    Hope that helps.
    Pete.
