  1. I have a Sony dvp-c670d. It says that it will play vcds and I know it should be able to considering it has that as one of the things on the lcd display it just wont work. It says "no disk". I don't get it. I am using imaition cdrs and someone told me that it might only read cd-rws. What brand should I buy. Thank-you to anyone that replies.

    Yeah... Ok.
If you read what media is supported by your player here, then you will notice that it does not support CDRs! It wont read anything contained on a CDR - That means a VCD that is burned to a CDR. It will only play a consumer VCD, Ie. a VCD you buy from a shops, or a VCD burned to a CDRW.
It does say that CDRW is supported. Try Sony's own brand (!).

  4. YaYaHead, by chance are you trying to write to FORMATTED CD-RW? That won't work if you're making a VCD. If you are, try putting in a blank unformatted CD-RW disk and both Nero and Easy CD should write to them. You use Adaptec Direct CD ONLY if you plan on storing data on a CD and want to use your CD drive for drag and drop until you fill up a CD.

  5. Use Nero, Format the CD-RW and then you can copy onto the cd-rw. Sony dvd players play all cd-rw, and very few silver/blue cd-rs. It's a lot easier to just chuck the vcd onto a Cd-RW.

  6. My DVD player would not play at first, but I tried a variety of different blanks and finally settled on Taiyo Yuden (TY) CDR media. They are, from what I've read and experienced, great quality blanks. My player recognizes them easily and plays them no problem. My guess is that they are close enough to silver to fool the player into thinking that they are commercial aluminum discs.
