I got hold of a movie in pal ogm format. Since then I have spent several frustrated hours trying to convert it to ntsc svcd

First I found out that ogm files are made up of mpeg2 video and ogg vorbis audio (please correct me if I'm wrong). I found a program that comes with AVI2VCD called decompress that extracts the ogg audio to pcm and muxes it with the mpeg2 video to create an avi. A pal avi.

I next loaded this avi into tmpgenc, with pal svcd template, and created a pal svcd version of the movie.

This is where I'm stuck. I was hoping to load the pal svcd into tmpgenc and convert to ntsc svcd, but tmpgenc won't load the very pal svcd it just created! Trying to open the mpg causes the program to crash. Trying to open the m2v (tmpgenc demuxed the mpeg2 without problem) causes the error "can not open, or unsupported."

What could cause such strange behavior in tmpgenc (not that this is the first time I've had problems with the prog)? How can I work around this?
