  1. I have this particular mpeg2 video.
After opening it with WMP, WMP tried to download a codec but failed.
In the end, I can watch the video but there's no audio.
Looking at the files properties, the audio codec is UNKNOWN and the video codec is CyberLink Video/SP decoder.

NOTE: This problem is funny cause few days ago WMP was able to download the audio codec. But now it cant.

  2. Did you try loading your video file into gSpot (it's really desgined for avi's, but it can sometimes tell you something useful about MPEGs too).

It sounds like your file may have ac3 audio (I can't remember, but think it's possible to have an MPEG-2 file muxed with ac3 audio - that's what most DVDs are after all).

If so, try downloading ac3Filter or something similar.

Do you have WinDVD or PowerDVD? - they should be able to play ac3 audio that WMP can't.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I dont have those players because they are not freewares you see. GSpot didnt provided a great help on this file because it is in MPEG format I guess. I installed AC3 but it didnt work. Sigh this is so frustrating, few days ago the file still works fine.
