Folks,
I was helping a friend out the other night with his new burner. He got a Lite-On LTR-401s.
The problem is that both RecordNow _and_ Nero both seem to think it's an 8x burner! And RecordNow has decided, on his drive, to revert to the old "max, mid, min" thing instead of actual speeds.
Nero offers 8x and maximum as options. That's silly, since it's only a 4x drive! Recordnow burnt a disc, but "mid" was 4x - and he only has 2.4x media at the moment!
So we're stuck either using RecordNow to burn at 1x (min), or not burning at all. Any ideas? Is this just a "your burner is too new and you have to wait for updates" sort of thing? In the meantime should I try installing something like EZ Coaster Creator 6?

I heard the 401 had a writing strategy to burn 2.4xRICOHJPNR00 medias at 4x but its doesnt give good quality.
I would flash the drive with an official firmware. You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off.
