  1. Hi,

I have a DVD-R which is recorded in a Panasonic DVD Recorder (DMR-E50). I want to copy the VOB files on it to my harddrive, then reburn them to a new DVD-R together with a new chapter menu (the one generated with the DVD recorder is very ugly).

The problem is : I have tried several DVD authoring programs (NeroVision, TMPCEnc DVD Author, DVDLab, DVDit, etc) and I get the same problem in all of them: when I add the VOB files, the program tells me the videos are only a few seconds long (3 seconds, 6 seconds etc). These videos are no shorter than 2-3 minutes each. What am I doing wrong? Is the DVD recorder creating VOB files not compatible with the DVD authoring programs, or am I not supposed to just Copy them directly from the DVD to the harddrive? (I am literally dragging them from the VIDEO_TS folder to my C: drive, in File Explorer).

    Please, any help is appriciated!

Don't Panasonics use VBR(Variable Bit Rate) to create the DVD's?

  3. no, i didn't use the Variable Bitrate function.
I tried recording on both XP (highest quality) and SP (standard quality), the same result in both cases...

Demuxing the VOBs and running the video through restream
to reset timestamps may fix that.

Thats weird. DVDDecrypter reads my Philips +R stuff normally.....although it recognizes the DVD as "Philips Created" something-or-other.....forget the exact wording.
