    Yo,
Just got a Pioneer A06 +/- Drive. Works great so far with the -R/-RW media, but everytime I backup a movie with my +R media, the drive won't recognize it after the burn, and neither will my standalone. The drive reads it as a blank.
I think I know what the problem is: The programs I am using (DVDXCOPY Xpress and Clone DVD) aren't finalizing the DVD+Rs, but they auto finalize the DVD-R media. I read that R- media HAS to be finalized while +R doesn't and thought this might be the problem. So now, two questions:
    1) Does the above theory sound correct? If I use a program like NERO and manually finalize the DVD+R media, should that close the disc and make the movie readable?
    2) Is it possibile to finalize a disc outside of the program it was created in? I have three DVD+Rs with movies on them (they burned fine) but the discs were not (I believe) finalized. Can I "save" them, or are they coasters? Thanks for the help,

  2. Write-once medias have to be finalized to be able to play'em.
    Every program should finalize DVD-Videos

Dont use DVDxCopy or CloneDVD to burn.

    Don't use $.70 DVD+R medias

Use Nero and check the disk content (disc info). If in fact sessions are not finalized, do that. Don't need to finalize disc, just a session. Your PC shoud play it then no problem. As to standalone, check if session finalize will do, if so do just that, if not, finalize the disc.

  4. Decrypter does it too...

A burning program ought to finalize DVD-Video.
    Something seriously incompatible here.

Your drive won't do anything beyond what it's told to do. Software is the key here. Use a different program and see how it handles it.

  7. +RW discs do not need to be finalized to play on a dvd player. +R do.

    Yo,
Thanks all. I use NERO now, and everything is top notch.
