  1. I have been trying to compress a mpg file (made from a dvd) to divx to play on my gp32 and I can't get my movie to compress at all, I always get errors such as

An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'L3CODECP'...
...while compressing audio using "Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional)" (Audio.cpp:1713)...
    ...while running thread "Dub-I/O" (thread.cpp:120).

I've tried using xvid, divx, with and without audio, and it always crashes.
    Please someone help.

  2. Has no one else ever had this problem?

  3. You don't say what software you're using - VirtualDub, I presume?

If the problem is encountered in the audio stream (which is what it looks like), you should try to split the audio and encode it separately.

The simplest way to do this is to load your mpg into GoldWave, then Save as.. a wav. Then use this wav as the audio source in VirtualDub (Audio->WAV audio...).

Alternatively, you could compress and save the audio before saving it out of GoldWave. The LAME mp3 codec can be plugged into GoldWave to allow it to save as mp3 (if that's the format you want to use).

    cheers,
    mcdruid.
