  1. I check to see what bitrate I need with the dvdrhelp bitrate calc. Then I use TMPGEnc to encode it as 2 elementary streams. Then I open those files with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2. The file size is a little over 5gb. When I used the calculator it said I was going to have about 300 mb free on the disk. What am I doing wrong?

  2. I think it has to do with packet size, does windows explorer show the correct size?

  3. I think it doesn't show some file sizes right. How do I fix that?

How big are the files together on the harddrive??
Maybe ulead moviefactory wants to reconvert something(video or/and audio).

  5. Let tmpgenc automatically calculate the size for you in the wizard. Then take to tmpgenc dvd author and then burn with nero.

    Nice simple method.

No type of calculation, even seemingly how accurate, will guarantee you will have exactly 4.7GB worth of files to fit nicely on a blank media. I have experienced the wretched feeling of being ONLY 20MB above the capacity and Nero complains. But, make rough calculations, encode and author your DVD-volume anyway; if at the end the resulting files are collectively bigger than 4.7GB then DVDShrink is here to say the day. Open those files again in DVDShrink (check the guides on this site), pretend you are ripping, oh ok, backupping a DVD, and there u have it...
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

MF2 is probably set up to convert the audio to PCM (Uncompressed). Somewhere thare should be a setting to make sure it is left at mp2 that TmpGenc provides.

  8. Im having the same problem with DVDIt Pe. I use TMPGE to encode. It says my file size is 4.024 gig. All I did was create a simple menu with one button, no chapter points, and it says it wont fit on the disk. When I check the size of the video in Pe, It says that my whole project is 4.6 gig. Any suggestions??

    Thanks Boxingjunkie

  9. But TMPGE gets really screwy with the audio when I try to do the audio for it too. It gives me some error during the encoding process. I encoded both movies as elementary streams. And the video is 1 hour and 29 minutes long. I made the movie at 5700kbps and it was like 3.4 gb. So I raised it to 6250 and the file size went to 6.1 gb. So is there something wrong here? Or am I just really dumb and not seeing something?

I am having similar problems only encoding with CCE. Can I use the tmpgenc wizard and then encode with CCE. That bitrate calculator never give me correct sizes. There must be a better way.
