  1. I can do (S)VCD authoring no probroblem, encode the mpeg files, fiddle with the settings and see what makes my DVD player throw a fit and what dosnt. (Sadly, Mp3 audio in the video stream does, but it plays MP3CDs. Lame) I'm a tad fedup with the menu options that (S)VCD has (Or is VCDEasy just very limited?)and wanted to move up to cDVDs, basicly using almost the exact same mpegs I was using on my XSVCDs but really experiment with creating menus.

And now I have run myself into a wall. I've tried two different programs, Encore and DVD Complete. I couldn't get encore to even add mpeg files, PSDs or even mp3s, only Bitmaps and waves. I couldn't find how to get basic video files in it at all, it kept saying they were unsupported.

DVD Complete gave me other issues, it would say my Mpeg files are not DVD compliant (something abou the GOP, so I reencode with the GOP setup it wanted, and it said it was still non-compliant, but it had no reason for it)

And now I have a stress headache, and have never felt so much like a 'noob' before in my life. Usually you can just button smash you way into new software and slowly get the feel for it, but this has me completely stumped.

My goal is to make low bitrate cDVDs. 352x480, avrage bitrate 1700kbps, 160kbps MP2 audio (48000hz). It dosn't seem to unreasonable to me, a -little- below DVD standards yes, but it's within the rage of XSVCDs and CVDs my player has run, so I was hopeing someone could help me out here?

Do you want to make a miniDVD? If you have the m2v and mp2 stream, rename the mp2 to mpa and use IFOEDIT. It's DVD author function will create all the files needed to burn your miniDVD.

  3. But will cramming the video files into their own IFOs be sufficent to make more advanced DVD authoring programs not complain that the file is slightly non-standard? What I really want to do is put nice menus on the disks. If I just wanted to cram video on a disk and make it play, I'd go with VCD and SVCD.

There is nothing non-standard about a 352x480 m2v stream,it's a legal DVD frame size. If your using an mp2 audio stream, rename it to mpa and your authoring program should then except it.
Try SpruceUp as an authoring program, look in the tools section and see if the link is still active.
