  1. Hi Folks,
I'm trying to "save a disk image" with sizzle but there seems to be a problem when I try to play back the movie.

I 'm trying to create movie that currently is a mp2 and 3.94 GB but when using sizzle and saved as a disk image it ends up 548.3 MB.

When I play the movie I only get the first 10 minutes or so, then it stops.

The VIDEO_TS folder contains 7 Items, 3 of which are my .VOB's.

Of the .VOB's only one seem to have the movie information and it is the 10 min clip mentioned above.

Any thoughts on what is going wrong?

Any chance you're running out of disc space?

  3. Thanks for the info bullitB.

The mp2 I'm trying to burn is just under 4 gigs. How much disc space is needed to make a disk image of that size file?

Also, did I read somewhere that sizzle has a 4 gig file size limit?

The mp2 file has been converted from a .dv using formac.

  4. The help notes that come with Sizzle specify that you need at least DOUBLE the size of your file in free disk space. That is, if your movie is 4 GB you need about 8-10 GBs free disk space on you boot drive. The use is temporary (I think it needs the space to store as it demuxes and remuxes your movie).

  5. Currently I have about 20 gigs of free harddrive space so from what I have been reading from you guys this doesn't seem to be the problem.

I made another mp2 of the same movie with a lower bit rate and lower quality and the same problem occurs.

As I said, sizzle is making 3 .VOB files and only one has any video. When I look at that .VOB file there is only about 13 min of video. The other two .VOB files contain nothing.

I created a chapter and set it for 1 hour into the movie.
When I view the movie and use the chapter it only takes me about 1 min into the movie.

Another question, if I use a previous version of sizzle, do I need a seperate stream for the vidio and audio or will is recognize a mp2 like the latest version of sizzle?

  6. In case anyone cares I finally got it to work.

I was creating m2p files using formac .dv to mpeg.
One of the options is to create seperate video and audio streams...so I tried it.

In sizzle, when I created the title I used the video stream and then selected the seperate audio stream. I then added my chapters and stuff and created the disk image which came out to 4.3 Gigs.

I'm courious though, I had made a previous disk image with another movie using sizzle and just selected the video title and did nothing with the audio and it seemed to work fine, but for the last movie I got the problem described above. Why would one movie need just the video track and the other need both a seperate video and audio track?

Because something screwed up in the fomac making of the mpg.

I have been experimenting with the new version of sizzle as well,
and the things I have found is that, when compiling its disc image,
Sizzle 0.5 likes to demux then remux any MPG files attached
on its Titles. I tried one just last night that had two titles,
both .mpgs, each 644 MB apiece.
Sizzle, when it was creating the disc image for Toast,
wanted to demux, then remux each mpeg into I guess
    a more compatible stream.
The result was I got a disc image that was 900MB, and when tested,
by mounting the disc image, didn't play at all!

To be safe, since the new version of Sizzle wants to demux and then remux, the best bet would be just to use seperate mv2 and aiffs,
and just let it one time mux.

Then, just like the old version, you'd get a comaptible set of files
that would play ( and burn) well.

  8. Arrrrrgh...this Sizzle program is so frustrating.

I thought I had it figured out..because it worked once as mentioned in my above post..BUT...I went to author another movie with a 3.21GB M2V file and a 195MB MP2 file, created some chapters and stuff and once again got an incomplete 1.14 disc image.

Prior to using sizzle I looked at both the video and audio file with Quicktime and each file played to completion.

BTW, I'm using formac studio TVR to convert a .dv to the mpegs.

  9. Just for the record, I downloaded the older version of sizzle and when I made the image...same smaller size.

This sounds like the files converted by formac may be the problem, despite they play just fine with quicktime.

The funny thing is, is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

  10. I may have solved the problem.

I use to have 256 meg of memory.
I added another 512 megs of memory and everything seems fine.
